Hi Ed (and all you hundreds of thousands out there just itching to post to this forum <g>),
like any other software standard, different versions are prone to popup when no consistent or unified communication is established between users of the software - take Java as the perfect example.
With lots of folks using the Codebook methodology, I wonder how many different flavors are out there, and is there any way to standardize changes? I use Neon's Visual FoxExpress, which is based on the Codebook, but I'm sure it is different from others.
Is this a realistic consideration? What will happen when FoxPro 6 comes out? Codebook will have to be changed, I'm sure, to work with that.
Or does it even matter?
This forum and the newsletter released by Software Assets of Virginia, Inc. (SAVI) is the first I've seen of a step towards a public "standard" for Codebook.
Wha'cha all think?
Best,
